A very close community, we know our children as individuals and we are able to identify the spark that lights their passion for learning.
Our children are challenged but nurtured in all aspects of their busy school life. Their achievements are remarkable but the most important things in education are largely immeasurable; The Downs is concerned with character and our primary aim is to encourage each Charltonian to be a confident, well-rounded, civilised individual who will unreservedly embrace such qualities as respect, integrity, tolerance, kindness and courage.
We would be delighted to welcome you to The Downs. I would be very pleased to meet you and our children would be eager to show you around their school. We enjoy an excellent national reputation but despite this age of informative multi-media technology my experience is that it is very difficult for parents to properly understand the differences between schools. I genuinely believe that as soon as you enter our gates you will begin to appreciate what distinguishes The Downs from others.
Admissions
Our Admissions department looks after every aspect of the admission process for our pupils.
